Steps

1. Upload one or more JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, or BMP images.

A 2.4 MB blog cover JPG can often be reduced to 500-800 KB by exporting as WebP at medium-high quality while keeping the visible detail suitable for web publishing.

Settings explained

• Quality controls the balance between file size and visible detail. Lower values make smaller files but can add compression artifacts.
• Max width is useful for large camera photos that only need to appear in a website, email, or social post.
• Output format matters: WebP is usually smaller for web use, while PNG is better when sharp transparency is required.

Limitations

• Very large images depend on available browser memory, especially on mobile devices.
• Animated formats may be flattened or processed as a still image depending on browser support.
• Lossy compression cannot recover detail that has already been removed by a previous export.
